KAILASH MANASAROVAR EXPEDITION

TREKKING OVER LIPULEKH PASS - INDO TIBET BORDER

INDIA GATE , NEW DELHI


I was fortunate to be a part of Batch 5 of a 28-day trekking expedition of Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar in India and Tibet. This was organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. A brief itinerary of the trek undertaken during July 2006 is given below.

Overland Route – India




  • Bangalore - New Delhi – Kathdodam – Bhimtal – Almora – Dharchula - Mangti



Trekking Route – India to Tibet








  • Mangti – Gala – Budhi – Gunji (3500 m) – Kalapani – Navidang (3370 m) – Lipulekh Pass (5334 m) = 87 km


WITH FELLOW YATRIS OF BATCH 5, KALAPANI, INDIA


Overland Route – Tibet





  • Taklakot – Zaidi – Parakha – Darchen

WITH A YOUNG MONK AT A MONASTERY, DARCHEN, TIBET


Trekking Route – Tibet – Circumambulation of Mt. Kailash





  • Darchen – Deraphuk - Foot of Mt. Kailash – Deraphuk - Dolma La Pass (5550 m) – Zongzerbu – Darchen = 55 km

Trekking / Bus Route – Tibet – Circumambulation of Lake Manasarovar





  • Darchen – Qihu – Qugu – Qihu = 35 km

ENJOYING A BOWL OF NOODLES AND TEA, QIHU, TIBET


Trekking Route – Tibet to India





  • Lipulekh Pass - Navidang – Kalapani – Gunji – Budhi – Gala – Mangti = 87 km

Overland Route – India





  • Mangti - Dharchula – Jageshwar – New Delhi – Bangalore


The total trekking distance was approximately 264 km.

One who hv walk around the holy Mount Kailash and hv done parikrama of lake manas. It is believed that a single Parikarma erases the accumulated sins of a lifetime, while 108 cicurmbulation will achieve Salvation.
It was really memorabel trip wd u Arjun...all d best
